The rate
Simple, and up front.
Materials are added separately. If the job is finished inside the first hour, that is all the labour you pay. And if you have a couple of quick questions while we are there, we won't start the clock over a few extra minutes of advice.
Cheaper sparkies exist.Coming back to fix their work isn't cheap.
Got a list? Save it for one visit.
The first hour applies whether we change one power point or five things. So make a list of the jobs you have been putting off: the loose switch, the light that flickers, the extra power point, the smoke alarm that chirps. We will get through as much as we can while we are there.
Urgent faults and tripping circuits are different. Call straight away.
Clear jobs get a fixed price.
When the scope is clear, a fixed quote is better for everyone. Ceiling fans, groups of downlights, switchboard upgrades, several new power points, exhaust fans and larger planned work all get a fixed price before we start, with the materials and the clean up spelled out.
Why fault finding is hourly.
A tripping circuit might be a faulty appliance. It might be damaged cable, old wiring, water in a fitting or a problem at the board. Nobody can know how long a hidden fault will take to find, so the fair way is to charge by the hour, test properly and keep you updated as we go.
One young family called us about unusual readings around their pipework. Proper testing found current flowing through the plumbing, and it wasn't coming from their own circuits at all. Guessing would never have found that.
How to compare quotes.
Look past the final number. A proper quote tells you the work being done, the materials supplied, whether testing and rubbish removal are included, and whether time is allowed to clean up. Check reviews, licensing and insurance too. A one line quote with a price tells you very little.

Pricing questions
How much does an electrician cost on the Northern Beaches?
Our rate is $150 an hour plus GST, with a $100 service fee plus GST, so the first hour is $250 plus GST, with materials extra. Clear jobs like ceiling fans, groups of downlights and switchboard upgrades get a fixed quote before we start.
Do you charge extra for quick questions?
No. If you have a couple of quick questions while we are there, we will not start the clock over a few minutes of advice.
When do I get a fixed quote?
Whenever the scope is clear: ceiling fans, groups of downlights, switchboard upgrades, several power points, exhaust fans and larger planned work.
Why is fault finding charged hourly?
Because nobody can know how long a hidden fault will take to find. We explain the rate up front and keep you updated as we go.
